CURRICULUM - What are we doing in class?
Math:
We will finish the year with SORICO Units 4.2 and 4.3 (see below for curriculum links). Our focus will be on geometry, problem solving and fluency.
Writing:
We will be revisiting opinion writing and narrative writing for the remainder of the year.
Science:
We have been busy exploring our Solids and Liquids Kit. Your child has been learning about the properties of solids and liquids. We have been comparing and contrasting solids and liquids. Our next lesson will focus on changing matter.
Social Studies:
We have been working on our neighborhood unit this month. Currently, we are using compass roses and map keys to read maps. An "at home" project was sent home this week. Students are being asked to create a flat map of their neighborhood. A rubric is attached. Please email me if you have any questions regarding this project. The project is due by Friday, June 10 and will take the place of our ELA homework.
Reading:
In reading we follow the CCSS standards. Those standards can be found below under the ELA resources. Additional resources for what we are studying in class are linked in this section as well. We are currently reading nonfiction text and are working on Unit 4.2. (See link below)
